1904 Parker Brothers, Sherlock Holmes Game in Original Box

1904 Parker Brothers, Sherlock Holmes Game in Original Box

The well-loved Sherlock Holmes had been in publication for more than 20 years by the time this American game became available. However, only several years had elapsed since Dr. Arthur Conan Doyle had enveloped his super sleuth Sherlock Holmes in The Hound of the Baskervilles (1902) .... at the time that Parker Brothers produced this card game.

It's in excellent+ condition. It's complete with 55 cards, original glossy box with separator, and original directions.

The box lid features a glossy textured print of gold on dark red. The name of the toy and manufacturer are noted, as well as an insert of the rear of a hansom cab. The sides of both lid and bottom are similarly lined with this red material. The cards are about the size of standard playing cards and are marked as shown below including several with an illustration of Holmes. The directions consist of four folded pages of complicated rules.

Size: Approximately 5" x 4" x 1".
